Pastor’s Corner

Lent and Easter are coming! Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter (Sundays don t count.) It begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5th; Easter Sunday is April 20th this year. Lent is a time of reflection and a time to be a little more deliberate about wanting to grow deeper in our relationship to God.

Often this has to do with “ giving up something for Lent ”. Self what I prefer is for folks to add denial is a tool, but something to their current walks that adds spiritual depth. It might mean being deliberate in “ senseless acts of beauty ” practicing random acts of kindness and each week. Or adding a special devotion and prayer time, taking time to pause and reflect.

Or, it might mean adding Christian Education on Sunday mornings. This year, we are having a combined class from 10:10 10:50 each Sunday in the FLC. This allows us to rub shoulders as a church family and to learn together. Over the six weeks (March 9, 16, 23, 30 & April 6, 13) we will learn more about “ How Do We Listen to God? ”, and “ “ Why Be a Christian? How Do I Share my Faith? ” ”, I am teaching the course built on workshops I have taught over the years. There will be small group discussion, practical exercises, optional homework, and as always, good fellowship.

Let us walk into this time of preparation together. Let us be deliberate in setting t ime apart for God to work with us, in us, and through us. Amen.

Blessings in Christ, Pastor Tom

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
